I oppose hatred and bigotry in all its forms. But simply fighting against it won't suffice.
When I oppose anything or anyone, I tend to get trapped in a vicious circle focused on what I don't want. The process stifles my creativity as my gaze locks on the negative. I feel tired and lethargic as a result.
Now, give me something to fight for and the situation changes dramatically. I'm energized by possibilities, filled with hope by a vision I can help to create. I feel lighter, even amped up, as I ponder the challenges ahead.
Give me something to fight for--not merely against--and I'll be there in the front lines.
