Leadership Development and Participation in a 12-Step Addiction Recovery Program
Developing
leadership skills demands introspection. My participation in a 12-step
addiction program based on the principles and traditions of Alcoholics
Anonymous (AA) was critical. As I engaged the world from an evolving
perspective while working to refrain from addictive behaviors, I came to realize
that my leadership beliefs and actions were fundamentally different. I consider
this process, which commenced in 2001, a leadership formative experience (LFE) as
it had the greatest influence on my subsequent leadership development.
