Talking about Integrated Marketing Communications and the Public Relations Professional

I've been invited to participate in the PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America) National Conference in San Francisco this fall. My session, "IMC and the PR Professional," is scheduled for Saturday, October 13, 2012 from 1:30 - 2:30 p.m.

Here's a description of my session:

Lifelong learning is essential for public relations practitioners, especially as the profession evolves to assume responsibilities in integrated marketing communications. That’s why it’s critical for new practitioners to be knowledgeable about the field, and in particular how they can cultivate the knowledge and skills to excel.

This session will introduce attendees to integrated marketing communications. Resources for continuing education in this area will be identified and discussed as well.

I'll draw on two ongoing professional engagements in delivering this talk. First, there's my service as adjunct instructor for West Virginia University's Integrated Marketing Communications online graduate program. Second, there's my research on leadership development among undergraduate public relations students which culminated in the publication of this article.
